Looking for a Marrakech itinerary 7 days that takes you beyond the famous streets of the Red City and into the heart of Morocco? This 7-day journey is designed to show you a different side of the country — from the dramatic High Atlas Mountains and ancient kasbahs to the endless dunes of the Sahara Desert.
Your 7 day Morocco itinerary from Marrakech begins in Marrakech and takes you through Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, the Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, and Merzouga before returning to Marrakech for a deeper exploration of the city.
It is more than a simple road trip. Each day brings a new landscape, a new story, and a different side of Morocco.
Your Moroccan adventure begins the moment you arrive in Marrakech.
After landing at Menara Airport, your private driver will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you comfortably to your hotel or traditional riad in the city.
Once you have settled in, the rest of the day is yours. Depending on your arrival time, you can take your first walk through the colorful streets of the Medina, enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea, or simply relax at your accommodation after your journey.
There is no need to rush. Morocco has seven days to reveal itself to you.
Overnight: Marrakech
After breakfast, your 7 day Morocco itinerary from Marrakech truly begins.
Leaving the energy of Marrakech behind, you head south toward the magnificent High Atlas Mountains. The road gradually climbs toward the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, where every turn reveals another spectacular view of mountain villages, deep valleys, and terraced hillsides.
As you descend from the mountains, the scenery begins to change dramatically.
Your next stop is Ait Ben Haddou, one of Morocco’s most impressive fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking through its ancient earthen streets feels like stepping into another era. Its distinctive architecture has also made it a favorite location for major films and television productions.
After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch, continue toward Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the Sahara and known for its long connection with the Moroccan film industry.
The journey continues through the palm-filled landscapes of Skoura and the famous Rose Valley before reaching the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.
By late afternoon, you arrive in the Dades Valley. After a full day of changing landscapes, settle into your accommodation, enjoy dinner, and relax overlooking the valley.
Overnight: Dades Valley
Wake up surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Dades Valley.
Today, your journey takes you deeper into southeastern Morocco. After breakfast, continue toward Todra Gorge, where enormous limestone cliffs rise dramatically on both sides of the narrow canyon.
Take some time to walk through the gorge, enjoy the atmosphere, and capture photographs of one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural landscapes.
From Todra, the road continues through the changing scenery of the southeast, passing through towns and palm oases before reaching Erfoud — the gateway to the Sahara.
Then, suddenly, the landscape begins to open.
The first golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon.
You have arrived in Merzouga.
Here, your camel caravan will take you into the dunes as the sun begins to fall. Watch the desert change color from bright gold to deep orange as the sunset stretches across the Sahara.
At your private desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, listen to Berber music around the campfire, and look up at a sky filled with stars.
Tonight, you don’t simply visit the Sahara.
You sleep beneath it.
Overnight: Luxury Sahara Desert Camp, Merzouga
Wake before sunrise if you can.
From the desert dunes, watch the first light slowly appear over the Sahara. It is one of those moments that photographs rarely capture properly.
After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4 vehicle.
Today is dedicated to discovering the desert beyond the dunes.
Your private 4×4 adventure takes you to some of the most interesting places around Erg Chebbi. Visit desert oases, seasonal lakes, fossil-rich areas, and Khamlia village, famous for its traditional Gnawa music.
You will also have the opportunity to meet a nomadic family and learn more about their life in this remote part of Morocco while sharing a glass of traditional mint tea.
After lunch, continue exploring the desert landscapes before returning to Merzouga for a relaxing evening.
After yesterday’s night in the dunes, tonight offers a chance to slow down, enjoy dinner, and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the desert.
Overnight: Merzouga
Today, it is time to leave the Sahara behind, but the journey is far from over.
After breakfast, travel toward Rissani, one of the historic trading centers of southeastern Morocco. If your visit falls on a market day, the local souk offers a fascinating glimpse into everyday Moroccan life, with traditional products, fresh produce, spices, and local crafts.
From Rissani, continue through the dramatic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains toward the Draa Valley, one of Morocco’s most beautiful palm-filled regions.
The landscape here tells a different story: thousands of date palms stretch through the valley while ancient villages and kasbahs appear between the mountains.
Continue toward Agdz before reaching Ouarzazate in the afternoon.
After another memorable day on the road, check into your accommodation, enjoy dinner, and relax.
Overnight: Ouarzazate
After breakfast, begin the final scenic drive back toward Marrakech.
You will cross the High Atlas Mountains once again, with opportunities to stop along the way for photographs and to enjoy the mountain scenery.
As Marrakech comes back into view, the landscape gradually becomes more vibrant and urban.
But your Marrakech itinerary 7 days is not finished yet.
After arriving in the Red City, meet your local guide for a private cultural tour through the historic heart of Marrakech.
Discover the impressive Koutoubia Mosque, explore the beautiful Bahia Palace, and step into the history of the Saadian Tombs. You will also visit the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa, one of the city’s most remarkable examples of Moroccan architecture.
Later, enter the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square.
As the sun goes down, Marrakech changes character. Storytellers, performers, musicians, and food vendors bring the square to life, creating the unforgettable atmosphere that has made Marrakech famous around the world.
After seven days of mountains, valleys, kasbahs, and desert, you return to where your Moroccan story began.
Overnight: Marrakech
Your final morning in Morocco arrives.
Enjoy breakfast at your riad or hotel and take some free time to relax, explore the Medina, or do some last-minute shopping for Moroccan souvenirs.
When it is time to leave, your private driver will pick you up from your accommodation and transfer you to Marrakech Menara Airport according to your flight schedule.
Your 7 days Morocco tour from Marrakech comes to an end, but the memories of the Atlas Mountains, ancient kasbahs, Berber villages, and Sahara sunsets will stay with you long after you leave Morocco.
End of the tour.
