This 10 Days Casablanca Desert Tour takes you from Morocco’s Atlantic coast into the heart of the country and deep into the Sahara. Along the way, discover imperial cities, mountain villages, ancient ruins, colorful medinas, dramatic valleys, and the golden dunes of Merzouga.
Your journey begins in Casablanca and Rabat, continues through the blue streets of Chefchaouen, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, and the historic city of Fes. From there, the road leads through the Middle Atlas Mountains and Ziz Valley to the Sahara, where you’ll ride camels across the dunes, spend a night in a luxury desert camp, and experience traditional Amazigh hospitality beneath the stars.
The adventure continues through Rissani, Todra Gorge, Dades Valley, Ouarzazate, and Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to vibrant Marrakech. More than a sightseeing trip, this Casablanca Desert Tour is a journey through Morocco’s landscapes, traditions, and everyday life—giving you time to experience the country rather than simply pass through it.
Your Casablanca Desert Tour begins in Casablanca, where Morocco’s modern energy meets its Atlantic soul. After your arrival at Mohammed V International Airport, your local team will welcome you and begin the journey toward Rabat.
Before leaving Casablanca, discover the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, standing proudly beside the ocean. Its enormous prayer hall, detailed mosaics, and soaring minaret offer your first glimpse into Morocco’s craftsmanship and culture.
Then, continue to Rabat, the kingdom’s elegant capital. Walk around the historic Hassan Tower and explore the peaceful Oudayas Kasbah, where white-and-blue streets overlook the Atlantic. After a day of discovery, settle into your accommodation and enjoy your first evening in Morocco.
After breakfast, the road takes you north toward the Rif Mountains and the magical town of Chefchaouen.
As the landscape changes from the coastal plains to green mountain scenery, you’ll slowly approach one of Morocco’s most recognizable destinations. Once in Chefchaouen, leave the vehicle behind and simply wander.
The blue-painted streets of the old Medina seem to turn every corner into a new photograph. Small shops, quiet squares, flower-filled doorways, and local cafés create an atmosphere that invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Tonight, stay in a traditional riad and experience the peaceful side of Morocco.
Leave the blue streets behind and travel through the Moroccan countryside toward Volubilis, where ancient Roman ruins rise from the green hills.
Walk among centuries-old mosaics, columns, and arches while imagining the city as it once was. From Roman Morocco, continue to Meknes, one of the country’s historic imperial cities.
Discover Bab el Mansour, the old city walls, and the legacy of Sultan Moulay Ismail before continuing to Fes.
By evening, arrive at your riad in the ancient Medina. The atmosphere changes again: narrow streets, traditional doors, distant calls to prayer, and the feeling that you have stepped into another chapter of Morocco.
Today is dedicated entirely to Fes, one of Morocco’s most fascinating cities.
With your local guide, enter the labyrinth of the UNESCO-listed Medina and discover a world where traditional craftsmanship is still part of everyday life. Visit Al-Qarawiyyin, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, and the famous Chouara Tanneries, where leather has been processed using traditional techniques for generations.
Continue through the historic Mellah, the former Jewish Quarter, before reaching a viewpoint overlooking the rooftops and minarets of the Medina.
After a full day among the stories and traditions of Fes, return to your riad for a well-earned evening.
Today, the landscape begins to change dramatically.
Leave Fes behind and travel through Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” before entering the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains. Keep an eye out for Barbary macaques as you travel through this beautiful mountain region.
As the road continues south, the scenery becomes drier and more dramatic. Follow the Ziz Valley, where green palm groves contrast with the surrounding rocky landscape.
Then, almost suddenly, the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear.
In Merzouga, your desert adventure begins. Ride camels across the dunes as the sun slowly disappears beyond the Sahara. By evening, arrive at your luxury desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, and gather around the fire for Amazigh music beneath a sky filled with stars.
This is the moment your Casablanca Desert Tour truly reaches the Sahara.
Wake early and climb a nearby dune to watch the first light spread across the Sahara. After breakfast, continue discovering the desert from a different perspective.
Visit Khamlia, a village famous for its Gnawa musical heritage, and experience the powerful rhythms of its musicians. Continue toward M’Fis, an old mining area, before meeting a local nomadic family and learning more about their traditional way of life.
Later, return toward Merzouga. If you are looking for more adventure, you can add a quad bike or buggy experience across the dunes.
Tonight, the desert becomes quiet again, giving you another chance to enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere of the Sahara.
After breakfast, say goodbye to the dunes and begin your journey toward Morocco’s dramatic valleys.
Your first stop is Rissani, an important historic market town where traditional souks come alive with local products, spices, and everyday Moroccan life.
Continue toward Todra Gorge, where enormous limestone cliffs rise on both sides of the road. Wander through the gorge, surrounded by towering rock walls and breathtaking mountain scenery.
Later, follow the road into the Dades Valley, stopping at panoramic viewpoints and the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations.
Spend the evening in the valley, surrounded by mountains and the quiet landscapes of southern Morocco.
Today, your journey follows one of Morocco’s most spectacular roads.
Travel through the Valley of Roses and toward Ouarzazate, often known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” If time allows, visit Atlas Studios and discover some of the movie sets that have helped make this region famous.
Then comes one of the highlights of the day: Ait Ben Haddou. Walk through its ancient earthen buildings and narrow passages while discovering why this fortified village has become one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks.
From here, cross the dramatic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass.
By evening, arrive in Marrakech, where the quiet desert landscapes give way to the energy of the Red City.
Today, explore Marrakech with a local guide and discover the city beyond its famous photographs.
Begin in the historic Medina, visiting Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the Koutoubia Mosque.
Later, experience the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna, where storytellers, musicians, food stalls, and local life come together as they have for generations.
You can spend the afternoon exploring Majorelle Garden, shopping in the souks, or simply relaxing at your riad.
After days of mountains, valleys, and desert, Marrakech gives your journey a lively final chapter.
